LACK of EDUCATION
In South Asia, since the girls get married at younger ages, they have to quit school. Girls are less valued than boys and discriminated against; the families and communities do not put value on girls' education since they are believed to be a financial burden to them. By educating the girls, the families believe they would not be successful in providing support to their families. Often resources are invested in boys' education and girls are left with a lack of access to education opportunities. Not attending school or not being educated causes many girls to marry early, or vice versa, marrying too early means abandoning formal education. Lack of education means lack of awareness of the health consequences of child marriage and the legal age of marriage. Child marriage is not legal by the South Asia's laws, but the people follow their traditions more than the laws; if the girls were educated, they could be aware that child marriage was wrong and would marry at an older age because they would be more aware of the consequences of child marriage. In addition, the uneducated girls don't have the power to oppose child marriage and refuse their parents or the social norms and expectations that is traditional. As just explained, the women have no way of communicating their suffering because they are not educated and they have no way of eloquently stating the truth to a crowd of the educated elders. The women are stuck in a vicious cycle.
So, girls are forced to stop schooling because society doesn't let them progress by providing them schools and higher opportunities of learning, which would give them many of options to support themselves. Education is the key. Without education, these women are stuck; depending on their husbands, many of whom are abusive. Those that are widowed then have no future or value to society because they don't have an education.

The literacy rate for females in South Asia is lower than the other parts of the world, but the males are much higher then them in every continent. Since females are less valued than males, their education opportunities are very limited especially when they get married at a very young ages.
Although girls start education, they are forced to marry and quit school, which is a key to improving their lives. Education would have helped them marry at a later age, but unfortunately, they have to be submissive to their parents’ demands because they don’t have the knowledge and the power to refuse.
